So I Did A Thing…
The first thing I want to mention is Happy Martin Luther King Day! Looking back, I consider myself lucky in being able to visit the Martin Luther King, Jr. National Historical Park in Atlanta pre-covid back in 2019. Just to be able to check out the museum and walk through The King Center felt very surreal. I just hope that we all aren’t getting desensitized to a very important holiday not only in the United States but across the globe. I am a realist and I do realize that the issue of civil rights will outlive my life. Racism will continue to be a thing for as long there are people who continue to accept ignorance and refuse to change. I have never been an outspoken person and generally avoid confrontation. That is my default “fight or flight” response. So the way I choose to do my part is to do my best at treating all people with love and respect and to lead by my actions and words I speak. Martin Luther King’s “I Have A Dream” speech shouldn’t just be aspirational goals. It should be the way we all view people… no race, color, religious beliefs, or other identifiers should be reasons to discriminate against one another. Let’s love one another like the brothers and sisters we all should be.
This past MLK weekend has essentially come and gone. I can’t believe my three-day weekend flew by in a blink of an eye. I’m a tad upset at myself that I ate more than I should have, and I didn’t exercise nearly enough to offset my weekend caloric intake. FYI, I did not exercise one minute. However, all was not lost as far as productivity goes. I did take care of most-if-not-all of my podcast duties. This will be a huge week for our podcast as we will finish all of our recordings for season 3. I just need to survive this short work week. Then, it will be one whole, glorious week off from work! I still need to take care of preparations for my week in SoCal (yikes!).
There is a reason for the title of this blog post. Yes, I did a thing. For the first time since 2016, my current hairstyle can be classified as a short one as it is considerably shorter than it had been. For those who know me, I usually go about 2-3 years before I get bored and change up my hairstyle. I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out, especially since it was the first attempt with this particular hairstyle with a home cut (since covid started, I’ve been saving money with home haircuts). I know these next couple of scheduled haircuts in the next few weeks will refine what we’ve done today. It still feels really weird not to have a long-ish hairstyle. It does feel nice though.
