Distracted by Dog Water

I was today years old when I found out what dog water means. Okay, yeah the official urban definition means “trash”, and I don’t think I’m using the term properly for the title of this blog post, but hey… maybe it’s because I’m not a Gen Z’er. Truth be told, I have been distracted by a lot of different priorities. As much as I would love to free up 40+ hours of my life to do other things like writing and take a break from work, I know that’s an unrealistic “want”. Plus, it is nice to get paid. I’m just glad that I get a 3-day weekend next weekend for MLK Day followed by an entire week of glorious bliss. I’m definitely looking forward to my week in SoCal. It’ll be nice to just get away from everything and reset my batteries because I’ve been in desperate need of a recharge.

If I had 40+ extra hours, I would definitely be blogging, vlogging, and podcasting. There’s something to be said about content creation that puts me in my happy place. When I vlogged back in 2018 and early 2019, I don’t think I was ready for it. I fell into that trap of wanting to make videos for views after seeing many YouTubers that I subscribe to. The motivations were all wrong, and I did recognize that eventually. So when the pandemic hit in 2020 and we were all gifted one of the most precious things - time - I was able to use past experiences to prevent that from happening for the podcast. I wanted to make sure that the sole reason we started the podcast was that we wanted to have fun. The Weekly Reel Podcast debuted on August 3, 2020. As I write this post on January 6, 2022, I want to share an exchange that I had with my cousin and co-host, Jeremy. We were talking about how the podcast has been an escape and even after about 1.5 years, it still feels fresh and we still have so much fun creating podcast episodes. The podcast has been my safe haven.

Physically, I am fully healthy again after catching the cold variant #89,714,598,714,098,060,689 for almost 2 weeks. I’m pumped that it coincides with my gastro health being much better after being wrecked for most of December. It’s definitely perfect timing with that SoCal trip on the horizon. Are food blog posts coming? We’ll have to see…
