Looking Ahead
“It won't be finished. That's the point. The way fashion's never finished.” -Jesse Eisenberg as Mark Zuckerberg (from The Social Network)
I’ve been thinking about what I ultimately want for this blog. It’s hard not to think too far ahead about what a possible finished product would look like. I think that’s what my problem is. There are times when I get so obsessed over very minute details about any creative venture that I lose sight of what I’m ultimately trying to do - create and be creative! I know for a fact it’s the way I’m wired because I take after my dad in that regard. He’s very precise and methodical in everything he does, and the apple didn’t fall far from the tree. Because I’m self-aware of this sometimes-toxic trait, I purposely rushed the launch of my blog to make sure I didn’t waste unnecessary time obsessing over the aesthetics of how the site looks when I should just focus on creating content and getting the reps I crave to become a better writer.
Side note: I went with a very minimalistic theme for the site. I may or may not change it. I’ll decide when I decide. Oh, and if you notice little changes here and there (like adding a comment section), just know that I’m always tinkering with ideas.
I’m big on metaphors, and the way I envision this blog growing is through a similar trajectory analogous to my “writing skills”. I am so out of practice with writing. Honestly, I really don’t have much writing experience (does texting count?). Looking ahead to 2022, one of the goals that hinged on the creating of this blog site was that I wanted to create at least one blog post every day for a year. The purpose is two-fold. First, I want to build good habits and create a daily routine. I noticed that whenever I incorporate anything into a routine, things become easier with repetition. Second, I’m curious to see how the quality of my writing develops by the end of 2022. With the daily blog challenge, I’m hoping to take baby steps in developing my love for writing. Not sure if anyone has noticed, but I decided to get a headstart on my 2022 daily blog challenge. So far, my test run of creating a blog post every day for the final week of 2021, although it’s been challenging, has gone well so far. We’re building momentum into the new year!
