Clean Up on Aisle 2021

“Clean up on aisle 5.” -Michael Scarn (played by Michael Scott) (played by Steve Carrell) (from The Office)

I didn’t realize it until now, but yesterday’s post felt more of a New Year’s Eve post than a New Year’s Eve Eve post. Maybe I should’ve planned ahead. Actually, never mind. On this blog site, you get to catch a glimpse into my stream of consciousness. Anyway, I’m going to treat tonight’s post like I did my day at work. Today, I spent my day cleaning up a crap-ton of stuff that I had either been neglecting or straight-up ignoring. Also, I had to take care of year-end financial-type tasks. Needless to say, today was not fun, but days like today need to happen.

Looking back at my 2021, it was another productive year! At my day job, I was trusted to take on more of a leadership role (this has never happened to me). The Weekly Reel Podcast added a second show, and our current season has been blessed with several first-time guests and some return guests. Even though we’re still in the midst of a pandemic and the new Omicron variant is making cases spike, this past year was a bit of a return to normalcy after getting vaccinated. I was able to take a few road trips to reconnect with people I hadn’t seen since before the pandemic. And just hanging out at sporting events, concerts, and large groups with friends and family just felt… normal.

Again, it’s starting to look like the holidays will always see spikes in cases for future years to come. But, hopefully, these variants keep getting weaker and weaker. I will admit that my patience is starting to wear thin when it comes to the pandemic. No… I won’t turn into a Karen or whatever the male variant is of a Karen is these days. It can be frustrating to have to revert back to the way things were in the early pandemic days (hopefully we’ve put all that behind us).

So… 2022… I’ll try not to sound cliché when I say that my goal for 2022 is to just build on the good things that happened in 2021. I’d like to take more chances in all facets of life. As stated in my last blog post, I tend to be analytical and methodical in everything I do. I hope to take a more spontaneous approach when it comes to life. I would love to reconnect with some people that I have lost touch with since the pandemic. But, also, I would love to make new connections with people. Who knows what 2022 has in store for me… for all of us! Whatever 2022 has in store for us, cheers to enjoying what life brings our way.
